Podcasting, Pop Music, and Legal Issues

I have been searching throughout the internet in the hopes of discovering a single source that would possibly explain how to legally podcast music (to whatever degree). I understand that licenses need to be attained from several music sources and that there are composer and performer royalties. I do not want to be a DJ, we have FM for that, but I'd like to use a song or two from time to time.

I appreciate any input on this topic. If I find anything, I will update this post as well.
