Too many people buy iPods for the wrong reasons, to put all
those mp3's from your computer onto the iPod. What ever happened to good old CD's! My iPod (when i buy it) might be the only iPod in the world with real music on it. WAV files from my CD's
Not only do they have superior sound quality to mp3's but buying CD's actually supports the artist.

Why is purchasing an iPod to put a large collection of MP3's on it the wrong reason to purchase? That is how Apple advertises it. I agree with you on the fact that a ripped WAV file will sound better than an MP3 file since it's not compressed but now that 40GB iPod will only be able to hold around 500-700 songs vs. 10,000 songs. I currently have over 300 full albums and a couple hundred singles on my 20GB iPod. Using WAV files I would only be able to fit around 25 CDs. Remember that the iPod is not a state-of-the-art $1000 stereo system. It is a portable music player. Personally I would rather lose a little quality and be able to take my entire music collection wherever I go than keep the higher quality and only be able to take a portion of it.
And yes, buying the CD supports the artist but so does iTunes and any other legal music service out there.

Most people on this forum it seems have gotten most of their music off of CDs, imported into iTunes and converted into AAC files, which in the higher encoding rates sound pretty much exactly like a CD track.
You're going to use actual WAV files on your iPod?! I'm sorry, but that's just a STUPID thing to do. At most, you should use Apple's Lossless format...it's CD quality, but half the file size of WAV files.

Are you a troll? You posted this in the wrong forum and you are making a statement that's sure to upset a lot of people. There are MANY formats that are lossless and far superior to WAVs.
This was only posted here to p*ss off people.
It's obvious that this one has no clue.
I can't be arsed to answer him.
