i just bought this stupid thing last week on monday and now for some reason i can't even RECHARGE the battery. i bopught the wall adapter and it STIll won't recharge. this is really ticking me off, and i bought this thing at my college bookstore and i lost the receipt. i have the ipod registered though. what the hell am i going to do now? can someone please help me out? on how to recharge this thing?

Make sure u are using the fire wire cable to the wall charger......... if this doesnt work take it to the place of purchace n tell em its screwed..

You might be out of luck if you lost the receipt. Did you use a credit card to pay for the mini? The bookstore might have a record of the sale on their computer or something if you did. Otherwise you could call up Apple and tell them you have a defective mini. They should send you a replacement since it's still under warranty.

o wait, i can't use the USB cable with with the wall charger? the same cable i use for my PC? (USB 1.1)

If you registered it with Apple call them and they will take care of it.

this is very strange. i tried rechargining my mini ipod on my computer with USB 1.1 for like an hour, and i FINALLY see soemething on the battery meter. ok i think this is solved thanks a lot.
BUT, do you really need a firewire cable inordr to use the adapter? cuz mine says iPod : USB Power Adapter

With the new 4GB & 6GB minis that dont come with a power adaptor you can now buy a USB one for use with the supplied cable.
The original power adaptor used a Firewire cable.

O_O The box said to get usb2... I think you can get an extra usb2 port pretty cheap, look into that
u can only use your comp to charge.. usb 1.1 or 2 both are fine

upgrade your computer to usb 2 if you want to send data faster and charge it properly.

yea usb 1.1 could be the problem..not the wee mini...i think its neato the 1 gen i have came with both so now wen i get my ibook i wont have to buy the firewire

o no, i can chrarge the battery via my 1.1 USB, but i dont understand why it doesnt work with the power adapter. i DID pay 30 bux for it

Sounds like a defective charger, I'd contact Apple about getting it replaced.

i bought it at my school bookstore though. what should i do? it says on the receipt that computer products cant be exchanged or returned. i mean when i plug it in the walljack, i see on my ipod mini screen that its echarging, but when i take it out, either nothing has been recharged or the btattery is dead.

If the iPod mini shows the charging graphic when you have the iPod plugged into the AC Adaptor, the iPod is charging and the AC Adaptor is OK. How long are you allowing the iPod to charge? I'd leave it plugged in for 3-4 hours for a full charge.

They may not be able to exchange or refund, but if you tell them it's defective, they should replace it for you.

i have no idea andy. i do see the big charging icon. i charge it sometimes for like 2-3 hours and when i unplug it, the battery dies in 5 minutes.
