How many of you have burned in your EX71's? Mine finally came in the mail today ($32 ecost) So far, the bass (LL Cool J, Dream Theater) is decent, not prevelent enough to be considered muddy, but still better than the pack-ins. However, the highs are VERY shrill. I was listening to some of the higher notes in NIN's Pretty Hate Machine, and they sounded absolutely wretched. I'm certain that they are in all the way, I'm using the small buds. Right now I'm listening to Rage Against the Machine, and they don't sound all TOO bad, but the highs are still very dominant over the bass. Is there a certain EQ that these headphones sound great on? It's on bass boost right now. I assumed that the problem was simply the fact that they hadn't been used before.

I seem to have sort of fixed the bass problem. I moved from the small buds to the medium buds. I'm definitely getting more isolation and bass, but the highs are much improved. Now my question stands; why did changing buds make the difference?

I think it might be your poor taste in music! ;)

What's your fancy? I've got Miles Davis, Rush, Zeppelin, everything from ACDC to ZZ Top, with The Zutons and Slayer in between... I listen to quite a bit of music.

i have the ex51, which people say that it sounds alike comapred to the ex71. after some burning in, the highs are much better. the piano intro part of five for fighting - 100 years sounds very good

I hate to tell you guys this but I feel that's there's no burn in w/ earphones. I think after listening to the earphones for awhile, you get use to them, so you think they are better. the Ex-71 will always have shrill highs and muddy bass, but I think u made it even worst when you use bass boost. Try FLAT EQ or no EQ at all.
