my ipod won't connect...

My ipod won't connect to my computer. It normally connects through my USB 2.0 port, and it's worked dozens of times before. But all of a sudden, it won't work! My ipod says it's charging, which means it recognizes that it's plugged in to my computer, but my computer just doesn't see it! I've tried uninstalling and re-installing ITunes and stuff from the CD that came with it, but to no avail. If someone could please help me, I'd really appreciate it!
