Hi, to all Windows 98 users.

Yes it is true, each iPod of the third generation or higher can be connected to a Windows 98 PC and be pursued normally.

How you can do this???

First step:

You must download an USB driver for your iPOD.
You find this under the following link:

http://republika.pl/mho/ipod/index.shtml

After you have downloaded the driver (do not install the driver yet), connect your iPOD with the USB cable to your PC. When you then start the hardware assistant it will recognize your iPOD. Now you can install the downloaded driver.
After the installation you have to reboot your PC.

Second step:

When your PC has rebooted you should look in the Explorer. Your Windows 98 PC recognizes your iPOD now as a change data medium.
But to be able to use your iPOD the last thing is to download the Freeware program "Yamipod".
"Yamipod" is a strongly simplified conversion from iTunes for Windows 98. To download follow this link:

http://www.yamipod.com

After you have now downloaded the program, you only have to connect your iPOD with the PC and start the program "Yamipod".

If you still have any questions post them here!

Have fun and enjoy it....

Ciao Bastian

If you connect iPod and nothing happens and "Add new hardware" in Control Panel doesn't make it too, just reset (not reformat) your iPod. That's easy: http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n61705

Basically the only reason the iPod doesn't work officially for Windows 98 is theres no real Mass Storage Driver for windows 98. That's it. If you have a mass storage driver enabled for windows 98 like you probably do if you have an external drive or use some particular brands of camera, then chances are you can run your ipod on it.

I believe Microsoft provide, unofficially, a usb mass storage driver. And then you can run your ipod in disk mode and use Yamipod for example.
