Yesterday my first generation iPod stopped working entirely. Before it gave out the volume went quite high, the click wheel wouldn't work and then it died completely as if the battery was dead.
When I got home I plugged it into the charger and it would not respond in any way. I left it on the charger overnight, still no reponse, there are no error messages, just darkness it won't turn on at all.
I tried resetting it using the hold and play button method, still no reponse.
I also tried updating the software, still no reponse.
When I plug it into my computer it is not recognized as a device.
I've read quite a bit on the forums, but haven't found anything similar. '
I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to get a new battery or if my iPod is just plain dead. Any thoughts?
