Hi,
A generous mate of mine has given me his old 1st gen 5gig pod - he did say however he was having trouble with it sometimes working and sometimes not. For me however it's turned on and run fine, no worries. However...
The time came for me to zap it to NTFS, as it is a Mac ipod and has always been so. Previously my PC has simply been it's charger - the machine charges fine thru Firewire. However, all software I tried wouldn't see the device (winniepod, apple update, xplay2) and it doesn't show in My Computer or even in Device Manager as, well, anything at all. I've tried uninstalling/reboot/reinstalling the FW drivers (my FW is on my K8T neo board, and i've used the via 4in1 drivers to update the chipset drivers), I've tried running the ipod as a disk and nothing at all!!!
My only idea has been the FW port is broken on the ipod but it charges ok and I've also run it thru some diagnostic thing you get with the left/right/select buttons and the FW is reporting as fine.
Any ideas???????
