I need to get some new earphones, my apple buds have served me well for the passed 2 years, but they are falling apart. I also want to upgrade. I have looked ath the shure E3c, E2c, and the Eyt Er-6i. I want some that are going to give me both high quality and comfort. I am moving to a city in a couple of months so noise isolation sounds like a must.

I am willing to pay up to $120 (E3c/Er-6i) if it is really worth it.

-Travis

P.S. All my mp3's are lame 192kps, so they sound pretty good.

You need you tell us your sound reference so we can suggest something. Tell us what you're looking for beside from isolation, what kind of sound? Are you a bass head? Personally, I recommend the E2c to start with, and later upgrade to dual driver earphones.

Well i listen to mostly punk, rock, alt, emo --> that type stuff. I like bass, but i like it to sound clear(not boomy or muddy). I just like overall good quality sound.

This is just a hunch, but I think if you're in to punk you're going to find the ER-6i's a little too wimpy in the low-end. They're better suited to highly dynamic music like electronica or classical.

You'll be better served with the E2c's like RX7_fan suggested.

I have heard that the E2c has muddy bass, and muddy bass is not cool. is that true. would i notice it being muddy going from the apple buds?

Well see here's the thing with audio, everyone has different tastes. It's like looking at a piece of art, some will love it, while others hate it. There's no definate right or wrong, the question is what is right for you. However, when you say the E2c had muddy bass, I have to ask you compare to what? Compare to the Sony Ex71, the E2c definately does not have muddy bass. But if you compare it to like, say, a Shure E5c, then yes it is muddy. It is not easy to find a earphone you like, and more money doesn't always mean better sound quality. The absolute best advice I can give you is head to an electronic store and listen to as many earphones you can get your hands to, after that you will have a clear idea what you're looking for.

P.S.
reading these forum will only guide you to what people THINK you want, but we really have no clue what is good for you. That's up to you to find out, go to a store and listen to some of these earphones.

i agree about the forum thing with persueading people to go with what is right for themselfes

i would love to go try some good stuff out, but unfortuneatly the only electronics store within 100 mi is Circuit city and best buy, and to tell the truth there is like no where i can think of in maine that would have "nice stuff" like the shure phones.

but thanks for the help, i think i am going to order the e2c.
