IS there any way for the ipod to autoplay and automatically backup my files when it is plugged into the computer? Windows has sheduled tasks but you cannot shedule a backup for "when the device is plugged in" just times. I was hoping the "ipod connected" could trigger a sheduled task of backup
I have seen a few programs designed to do this but it seems most of them only work with usb, i plug mine through firewire so i was hoping you guys might have an idea!

Looks like you thought of doing it, but just don't know how? Well sorry I can't help you here either so I'll stop this post now! But seriously it sounds like a good idea and something I'd be interested in seeing.

Hey, I was actually just thinking the same thing and was trying to figure out if there's anyway to set up auto-syncing of certain folders on my HD to my ipod. If anyone knows how with Windows XP that would be fantastic.

Use a program like Acronis TrueImage to make a weekly image of your library on a secondary drive.

I knwo how to back up. I probably wouldn't use true image im a fan of ghost ;) and of course the windows software that backups automatically your my documents folder. Without having to bother with the (100gigs+) programs.
but that doesn't really help because Even if i set to back it up, whats to say that my ipod will be plugged in when it tries to back up!
If i can get the ipod to autoplay a program i think i could get it set.

Norton Ghost. burn a disk image, and store it in amongst the cobwebs for a rainy day

I don't think you quite understand what I am asking here... I'm asking for an automatic backup of FILES This is a completely different thing because as apposed to an image which you might run once a week (and i do! big fan of ghost) I would want to run this backup whenever i plugged in my ipod so it is always upto date.
I know how to backup. I made that clear (twice). I want the backups to become more frequent and automatic so i do not have to think about it, and so that i can implement it on other computers where i will not always be around to burn a ghost.

Help!
OK Here's the situation
-I own a 6GB iPod Mini 2G
-I want to set up my Windows XP computer to automatically back up certain folders (and then changes made in those folders) to my Mini whenever I connect my Mimi so that there will be an emergency copy of those files/documents stored on my Mini
Think of it this way- it's a hot swappable HD that I want my computer to automatically back up a folder and any changes I make in it to the HD automatically (or as close to automatic as I can get it) when I connect it. How can I set that up?
