Stick with the Imp man. Preorder it is you have too. No others I know of offer the fixed line out with charging on a approved dock connector. I got a knock off and it was cheap. I bought a nyko with fixed line out and it sounded good but no charger.

Truct me, it's worth the wait.

how does the Sik compare to the belkin car charger with the line out on it?

The Belkin charger does NOT have a "line out" on it. It includes an amplifier circuit which can cause distortion, but can be removed with a little electronics knowledge. You can find out how if you search the forums for "Belkin Auto Kit Direct Line Out in-Case Socket Modification"

You could always use a regular iPod dock, but it's going to cost a little more if you're really in a rush. I already had one, so I plan on using it in my car when I finally get the stereo installed. :D

What about the monster low profile charger? That has a line-out with no amplifier.. or the Incase charger with a line out.

The idea behind the sik is great ... and I've read that audio out through the dock connector is the way to go. I was wondering though ... to go into the aux input of my cd player, I have to buy an adapter that has a a/v input, so in addition buying the sik, I would also have to buy the monster headphone to a/v cable wire.

I was wondering if anyone has seen something similar to the sik, but with a/v out wires coming out of the dock connector charger instead of a headphone out wire.

Thanks.

I would NOT recommend the Monster cable. The part you plug into your iPod is too big and you have to modify all you cases or it won't connect. I returned mine to Best Buy and bought the SIK.

I'm not sure what you mean by A/V? I have the AUX input in my trunk that makes it into straight RCA connections. You buy the RCA/mini stereo cable and that can plug into your headset out jack or your line out with your SIK cable.

Okay, I think I understand what you mean, but I'm not 100% sure. This was my impression prior to reading your post:

Now, if the monster cable is too large to fit in the apple headphone-out and too large to fit the SiK's audio-output, what cord would I need?

Thanks.

That should be everything you need (assuming it works okay with your model car/stereo).

The Monster cable w/line out has a very wide connector that goes in the dock port at the bottom of you iPod. It's too wide for many cases - in my situation I had to cut out a hole in my iSkin EVO2 for it to fit, and even then you had to wrestle it on there. You would have to alter all your cases for it to fit. The SIK Imp connector is perfect - just like your iPod syncing cable.

Two things I had to add to my setup: I had to buy a GLI (ground loop isolator?) from Radio Shack to lessen the engine noise. After that, mine still didn't sound right. I then went to Radio Shack and bought a headset volume adjuster. Mind you, the goal was to have one cord in my car to connect to the iPod--the SIK Imp one. So, if I remember correctly, the GLI cable went into the AUX RCA ports, then a coupler, then a standard RCA to mini stereo jack, then the volume adjuster, then into the SIK Imp cable. Most people don't have to go through all this - but mine sounds great now.
