ipod dock + belkin car kit

I am attempting to mount my iPod in the car using a standard 4g dock. I would like to power the ipod with the Belkin car kit charger along with a casette adapter. When I plug the Belkin into the dock, the casette adapter is bypassed by the dock. I think that the dock is sending the line level to the connector on the back of the dock instead. Does anyone know how to mod the dock so that the line levels are still sent to the belkin car charger's amp. I tried to plug the casette adapter into the dock line out, but the sound was distorted.

I'm having the same problem. I tried using the dock's line out to my tape adapter (and the car kit as my charger), but on acoustic songs the sound was awful.
