A bass lover, I'm looking for reasonably priced earphones with mega bass! Some of you suggested the Sony 71's. I bought a pair from Best Buy (if these are the same ones) and they sucked big time. The sound quality was not good and one cord going to the ear was shorter than the other. Not using the extension cord made the cord too short and using the extension cord made it too long and annoying. I ended up returning the phones and getting my money back. You can buy these from BB and the Apple store. They cost me $83!! I prefer in-ear phones as well...
So anyway, I am still on the hunt for good quality earphones (would love to have white ones to match my iPod) with some bass!
It's hard for me to reccommend any because everyone who reviews a pair of headphones on this site always feels less enthusiastic about the bass.
From what I've read, the Shure range to a pretty good job of providing a solid bass, there are plenty of reviews on this forum if you do a search. That would be my tip.
The more you pay, the more you get out of the headphones, more or less. Also, have you tinkered with the EQ settings on your iPod?

The shure E5's got a good review and have a lot of bass. I already ordered a pair today. So far the best bass phones are my Grados SR60's and none of the earphones have come close to it.
Someone recently purchased a pair of the E5's and said the bass is great. Their are some user reviews here. Just use the search to locate them.
I will try and post the links to the ones I find but my PC pages are hanging really bad today.
Also try head-fi for some good reviews. All of the ones I've read so far say that the E5's have a lot of bass. This person just posted after purchasing them:

I used a link on this thread and ordered from the yahoo link for $357.
I have the Sony ex71's and didn't care to much for them as well. I'm on an earbud hunt since I can't find any with really good bass performance to satisfy me.

Thanks so much! I will head over to the website and see what's up. I appreciate the responses...
Oh, and I don't use the EQ settings on my iPod. I'm too paranoid about battery life as it is...;)

For real bass and to pay less than several hundred dollars, you need to get bigger headphones- the 'cans' that go over your ears. Big drivers can move serious air.
Here's a good list to work from. The Koss KSC-35's are more portable than others on the list.

These are supposed to be quite bassy and good all-around too.

Right, bass is a bit harder to come by with the in-earphones, and I'm surprised -- if you didn't like EX71, I'm not sure the offerings by Shure or Etymotic will help any. I haven't had personal experience with the e5c, but it is interesting that there is a separate bass and trebel driver. Ultimately though, the e5c is a very expensive solution.
I personally have the e3cs, and the bass magnitude does not compare with EX81s I had before. However, it is tighter and more precise.
You really might want to consider using the EQ though -- when I had my EX81s, I loved the combination of it with the Dance setting -- a very full, warm sound with plenty of bass thumping my little ear canal.

As a former basshead, I'll second the E5c recommendation.
I've owned the following:
Etymotic ER-6i (not impressed)
Shure E5c (still have them)
Sony EX71 (gave them away)
Sensaphonics 2X-S (currently using)
Of those, the EX71 definately had the most dominant bass. The E5c is also quite bass-heavy, more so than the ER-6i (by far) and more than the Sensas. The Sensas, on the other hand, provide better QUALITY bass (tighter, more accurate) but not the QUANTITY.
E5c's should satisfy you for a while. ;)
