It's a conversation starter, at least. And it keeps my precious out of sight while left in the car.

Note: I realize hiding an iPod from theives in a present is a horrible idea. But, it's so comforting driving around with a present all the time. Either way, tomorrow I'm picking up a used hardback dictionary. The inside will be carved out and glued solid. The padding from the present will be transplanted. And plus, who's going to suspect a beat up dictionary? Or steal one for that matter?

why dont you just put it in your glovebox and then lock it when you leave the car?

Because this is more fun and unique. Impractical, yeah, but I was going more for clever and creative. Also, putting it in the glove box hinders my ability to change songs on the go. If I leave it somewhere in reach, it will fly around and get beat up. I had one of those iGrip pads from Best Buy, but it lost it's stickyness after a few weeks. Just buy a case? I would if I had the money. This was free and gave me something to kill time with.

You didn't even read what I wrote!

And it's not a gift box, it's a present.

I kinda like the dictionary idea! I visualize hollowing out a book sorta like a laptop.

Open the cover and the iPod would sit propped up at a comfortable viewing level, perhaps sitting in a dock that runs to the charger and a FM transmitter or cassette adaptor.

Build in a couple smallish speakers and a small battery-powered amp for a portable sound system...

A nice little cubby space for the headphones (probably folding headphones since you won't need the tiny earbuds to save space)...

With a bit of effort, you could probably put the remote in the spine or cover so you can plug in headphones while the book is closed and still control the music.

Hmmm... I wonder if I have a book-sized box sitting around? That way, I can rip off a book's cover and spine and glue it to the box instead of the hollowing out of a book...

Or... build it in a cool lunch box or plastic tool box or something? Hmmm....

Well I have to say, that's the strangest thing I've seen in a while.

Also, even with the working versions of Podzilla, you can't listen to music while playing the games.

I like the way you think. But, you must have a gigantic dictionary at hand to fit all of that in.

The lunch box idea is fantastic, too. Imagine what could be made of the thermos that comes with some of them. Small speakers on each end with a miniamp in the middle? Storage for headphones? The possibilities are endless!

More..

Oh, man! I am visualizing one of those older tin lunchboxes- the hump-topped ones with the Thermos clipped in the lid... Speakers and amp/battery pack. Perf holes in the side so it can be clipped in and play through the case...

Now, if I can just find a good 'vintage/used' one somewhere- that old scuffed look would be perfect- both retro cool and virtually unstealable!

I could rig up a cradle inside to hold the iPod, punch a discreet hole in the back for my Belkin charger unit... and have a ton of space for other accesssories. I'll have to slip over to eBay soon!

It would be best to find a lunchbox of a band that's actually on your iPod.
