While browsing on the apple webforums i came across a guy who found a way to fix the problem with the damn (-36) error everyones gettin. Lets hope apple fixes this so we dont have to do this ourselves. but anyway here it is:
- Plug the iPod into the USB port. Let iTunes finish updating it, and show a message that it’s ok to disconnect your iPod.
- Now click on the button “iPod Options” and check the box that says “Keep this iPod in the source list”. iTunes will now try to update the iPod, but since it’s already ejected, it will seem to have frozen. So just unplug the iPod, iTunes will unfreeze, and the iPod will now be on the source list.
- Now that you have the iPod on the source list drag some songs from the library on there, 20 should be enough.
- Now plug in the iPod into your USB port, and it will start updating it with the songs that you just put on your iPod list. Now is the time when you can update some of the options on iPod.
- While it is updating (iTunes will be a bit unresponsive, but it will still work) click on the button “iPod Options” and check “Enable Disk Use”, click OK to the pop up that it gives you and set the slider to some value. Click OK to close the dialog, and iTunes should have been able to update that information onto the iPod. (make sure to complete all those steps before it finished uploading all the songs).
- Now your iPod should not auto ejects right away.
The only drawback here is that you have to Eject your iPod manually now, but it’s no biggie.
and if u dun wanna use it for disk mode leave the option enabled but move the slider to 0 so it doesnt save the space and woop u got urself a workin ipod shuffle.
