iPod not seen by Windows

I've been watching the forums lately trying to find out what went wrong with my iPod/XP setup. So far I haven't seen any fix that worked so I thought I'd post. Here is the situation:

iPod has worked just fine with XP SP2 for 10 minutes.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes. I tried installing the iPod software and updater again. I ran the updater again. I tried switching to usb 2.0. I tried reseting the ipod. I stop services like AntiVirus, Firewall. No luck.

For a fleeting moment when I first ran the updater again the iPod was seen by windows and by Itunes. Within just a few minutes though it was gone again. It does not appear anywhere.

I've had the same kinda problems with mine.
Mine is a 60Gb photo, and some times it would be found right away, and some times it would take ages. I phoned Apple and taked through my problems so I'd recomend that, but I've had to send mine back cos nothing seems to work. Sorry I cant be much help.

I know this might not be of much help and you may have tried it already, so dont get mad at me for trying to help, but what I did was used the firewire connection that comes with the iPod for charging, it might work with your computer, and may solve your problem.
