I did a search for this here and found nothing. I also read the FAQ from apple on how to do it but I'm not sure I'm doing this right.

In itunes4 I click on Consolidate Library and it warns me that doing so will consolidate my library into the itunes music folder. "this cannot be undone."

So...should I just burn my itunes folder do DVD-R? If so, that is no "new feature" of itunes as I can do that at anytime. I assumed that itunes had a feature where the software backed up the library on it's own.

Am I going down the right path here?

Please le me know what the process is if in fact I can do this using itunes4.

I do have a SuperDrive. Running 10.2.4 and itunes4.

Thanks!

Denise

Not quite sure what you're asking with regard to the Consolidate Library feature. It doesn't have anything to do with DVDs - what it does is copy all the files in iTunes from locations outside your chosen Library folder into the Library folder.

iTunes 4's new feature is that it will create a backup DVD-R straight from iTunes instead of having to go through Toast or Disc Copy. No more dragging and dropping files and folders. Just make a playlist, insert a blank DVD, and click "burn".

If you have a whole lot of tracks, and you want a quick way to segment your playlist into DVD-sized playlists, try this AppleScript (http://www.malcolmadams.com/itunes/scripts/scripts07.shtml#backupseldvd).
