Hi,
I get the aforementioned error msg when I connect my iPod to my PC. The iPod works fine on my mates laptop, just not mine. I restored it on his laptop and then plugged it into a wall socket to allow it to load. However, I still get the same message.
I have had this problem once before and reformatted my comp; afterwards the iPod worked fine (I tried reinstalling WinXP as well, didn't work). I have tried reinstalling iTunes etc. but no avail.
My question is this: is there anything i can do to my comp (short of formatting it)? e.g. deleting any registry entires that are iPod related, such that the system will appear to have never had an iPod installed on it. I believe that this will have the same affect as a format and solve my problem.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
