Hi.
Before I go into my problem, I have a 20 gig 4g ipod and I use XP Home, Itunes 4.6 and the last update I gave my ipod was the November 2004 one. I purchased it in August 2004.
The problem is it's completely stuck. The screen displays the time and song/artist/album it was playing when it stopped. The pause symbol is in the upper left corner of the display. The battery meter is still the same.. about 1/5 drained.
I have tried:
1) holding down menu and play for about 40 seconds total.
2) holding down select and play " " " " ".
3) holding down rw/ffwd " " " " ".
4) connecting it to my computer via firewire and attempting to run the updater (it either says can't mount ipod or plug in ipod to update and it IS plugged in.
5) trying to manipulate the hold button and repeating steps 1-3 each time.
6) connecting to AC power and doing steps 1-3.
7) cursing
Nothing has worked. It's as if the hold button is stuck but even then the display eventually disappears...
Should I just wait until the battery is dead and retry everything or send it in to be fixed? It sucks that my warranty is gone.
I'm upset that my 2G is still working and my 4G is dead. *sigh*
