I am trying to connect my ipod photo 30 to my Yamaha receiver using either the CD or LD input. As the new photo 30GB ships without a dock, and it would be nice to have an extra charger so I could leave the dock and "charging station" set up, while keeping my other charger at the office, I was planning on buying the ipod stereo connection kit. The kit ships with a dock, power adapter, cable connector to connect the dock to the power adaptor and the monster line out - RCA cable. It is a little pricey at CDN$109, but if you add up all of the components separately, it comes to quite a bit more.
I just noticed however, that the web site states that the kit does not work with the shuffle (duh) and the ipod photo! If it doesn't work with the photo because the the dock doesn't have the s-video out, I don't really care, but if it doesn't fit because the dock doesn't fit, well that's a problem.
I called the Apple number on-line and of course, they have no idea, other than to say, "yeah, it says here it doesn't fit with the ipod photo".
Buying all the components separately is pretty expensive. Maybe I should just get the photo dock and a decent line out-RCA cable and not bother with a charging solution.
