View Full Version : ipod skins, color
yea so i am thinking about getting an ipod mini 4gb and i hate the colors they have for them. ive been checking out the skins on decalgirl.com and was wondering if they are good or not. and i was wondering if they had websites that did custom colors for ipod MINI's. ive been to the colorwarepc.com site and they dont do mini's. oh yea and if this has been posted before im sorry im just to lazy to use the search button.

Well, I would not use decalgirl.com as those are just stickers. Even though they say skins they are really stickers, the iPod's white corners showing through are the big hint. I don't know of any places that do custom skins (actual silicone skins) for the mini. It also depends what you want, if you want a true skin then I don't think you can get a custom one. If you want stickers then decalgirl.com looks pretty good, I may purchase a decal for my Xbox.
yea i dont really want one of those thick xskin things. i want something thin and nice looking.

I checked, there are not any websites that provide custom skins for the mini's. There were some for the 4G iPod but you can buy HP printable tattoes for the 4G.
The iSkins/silicon skins will provide bettery protection for your iPod. The others are thin but they are basically paper. If you drop your iPod you will probably scratch the paper and will have to replace your iPod cover.
Try looking at Best Buy or OfficeMax or some other store that offers paper. Se if they have a sticker section that will allow you to print designs on blank stickers. Print a design, cut two holes. One hole for the screen and the other for the click wheel (you may have to trim the sticker as well). The put it on your iPod. That is all the other companies do, they print a design and cut it our for the iPod (though they probably use machinery to cut the stickers so they will have bettery quality).
I have run through 50 googles and can't find any.
wow, you didnt have to go through that much trouble but thank you anyways. i might just pick a color and get it engraved. im not really sure. we'll see. thanks again.

the skins provided by decalgirl are high cast vinyl, exactly like what tuners use on their cars (hence why decalgirl also has car vinyls on their site). they are thin and work great under any clear case to give your ipod a bit more personality. they are also easy to remove and re-apply, so you can have a few skins that you can switch out from time to time as you see fit to change your style. not sure where you got the idea they were just stickers. they've received huge reviews from tons of gaming mags (just google "decalgirl reviews" to figure that one out)

Excellent stuff. I don't think I could do without one. Decalgirl makes high-quality products. And , yes you CAN get custom decals made for the Mini. You can download a custom skin template HERE (http://www.decalgirl.com/graphics/ipodmini-skin-template.zip) and send it to custom@decalgirl.com. I sent one in a few days ago and you can see what it look like in THIS (http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86857) thread. Right now, I currently have a black carbon fiber one. Here's a couple pics...
