View Full Version : Too Many Repeated Questions

I've noticed a huge influx of repeated new threads all either asking or repeating the exact same thing over and over again.
Whether it be about recording, or the new docks, or about how they dislike MMJ, or comparison between models, etc.... it's starting to get a bit much.
I guess there's not much that can be done, except hopefully some of the mods could just direct the originator of the post to the correct link and close the thread.
Dont get me wrong, I love these boards (really the only place for iPod info exchange), but I thought I should just leave my $0.02 worth.
Kenny,
Unfortunately this is not something new. We Admins and Mods have stated time and time again for people to search the forums for their query, posting hints and reminders all over the place, but to no avail.
Either new members cannot figure out the search facility or just can't be bothered to spend a few minutes going back through previous posts.
The old forum had settled down to some sense of order, but with the new iPod came a whole new user group and we find ourselves back at square one, repeating requests to search before you post.
At the moment with the new forum we don't want to come across to harshly but I think the option to lock threads may be used. We can merge threads on this new forum as well so we should be able to move similar threads together. All extra work, but it may have to be done.
You all can help though, as on the old board newbies were guided to an existing thread by other members, as well as sharing your knowledge with new members.
We're all in this together!!

this is a common issue on forums.. you can create as many "search" how-to's as you want and peeps will still create repeat "new" threads

life does consist of striving to improve existing situations, doesn?t it, 2000NB18T? ;) (no offence. i know it sounds condescending. it?s not meant that way. :) )
so, we try to find better ways to help people on this board. these repeated questions clutter up the board and make it harder for users to find information.
all you "old school forum users" ;) point us to duplicate or similar posts, so we can beat up the perpetrator, i mean deal with the post accordingly...;) :D
