View Full Version : Yay Im So Happy
Right, so my dad got a bonus at work, so i was wandering when he was going to sit me down and have a chat with me. It just happened about half an hour ago; he explained that I've been pretty well behaved, etc, and that he has had a pay bonus :D
So, he started talking about when I payed him for my iPod, and he said he is going to pay me back all the money I gave to get my iPod, and he is also paying me back all the Money I've given him for things I've bought off ebay. ( it amounts up to quite alot) He must of had a pretty huge bonus, because he has finsished off his stupidly expensive 'specialist' hi-fi, and has treated all my other brothers and sisters to money, etc.
I'm going to be loaded again :D yaaaaaay (loaded compared to what I usually am)
Just thought I would share my GREAT luck with you all :)
(bear in mind he is the software support manager for IBM UK, I dunno if thats good pay or is a good job though)

Wow well done your dad :) and congrats, sounds like you will have some fun decisions to make on what to buy!
And yes, I would recommend a Mac!
lol, i would like a G5 (i think thats wot they are called) but they are more than the amount of money my dads giving me.
About overall i think I'll be getting somewhere in the £200-£300 though.
I think i'll just buy little bits for my iPod, etc.

Why don't you save your money for your future, when you are going to need it a bit more? I know it might be hard, but just put it in a bank and then one day when the newest cool thing hits the shelves, you will be able to get it.

You know, printnamehere makes some sense.
If you really want a Mac though, www.apple.com/switch is the most convincing tool for switching. EVER.

I'm 20 and still waiting for my dad have a chat with me like yours. and I'm sure I'll post the same when I'm 40.
Some dads think it's enough when they give us food, a house, a education, and that kind of basic stuff.
I know that's not free but... come on, we need some extra stuff for being happy in times like these! :D
Edit: well, I know I'm bit old for my dad paying me everything what I want.. but he never did! that's cause I'm working as freelance developer now and can get my ipod photo, digicam and other stuff :D
Anyway, I love you dad, even when you don't give me more than 5 dollars at week.
My mom is more nice in that sense :D

its not a good job, its basically being an hoeing yourself to IT problems. And this doesn't mean like the clients problems, it means internal problems. The pay is probably 30 thou quid per year.
on another note. congrats.
£30,000 is still above the national average by some margin, so it's a respectable job.
I'm going to echo what printyourname here said, save save save. You'll need it when/if you go to university. Or you may want to save for driving lessons and insurance, they're a real killer you know.
i checked with my dad, and i found it is actually quite a bit above £30,000 (just above double) and that is with taxes, etc. But we are well off.
Im not going to spend all my money, but i will save some, im only into my early teens so i dont think i need to worry about university money, etc. But i never spend all my money, because i just hate having NO money atall.

How do you manage to breathe?

Ok fine so you didn't. But you could actually help with it apart from putting one-liners like "you can never be too rich" -.- when he obviously doesn't intend to save.

Maybe I don't know how things work in the UK, but at 29, what are you still doing having your dad give you money? I can understand if you are in a financial crisis and it is for assistance, but in that case, ipods and ebay probably wouldn't be used.
I do applaud your decision to save some of it. Whenever I get a bonus, I do the same. Put some in savings, spend some on fun stuff. I just got my bonus, and bought a motorcycle with it. Just waiting to get my license and some nice weather.

Erm...iPac isn't 29, he's 15 (I think). And its not your fault matey.
haha, if u got 29 off my profile or sumthing then thats fake, didnt want anyone knowing my true age.
take advice from kristiano ;)

Hmmm . . . I guess I'll have to create a '(insert user name here) is actually (insert age here)' sticky note.
Things make more sense now.
