Hi, I haven't gotten my iPod but i'm expecting it to come in the mail tomorrw. Is the cassette adapter for the iPod unique to the iPod or can an adapter used for a CD player work too? If I have to buy a cassette adapter specifically for the iPod, what brands do you suggest. Are they any other ways, perhaps more efficient, that i can connect my iPod to my car stereo? thanks!

Not a problem - you can use any 3.5mm (1/4") stereo headphone plug-style cassette adapter to do this. Apple sells a Sony (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/71902/wo/ithsm4FP7dMG2an14W82xFvjKFZ/1.3.0.5.10), but you can use any other one you like. They mostly all do the same thing. Cheaper ones may rattle a bit more than others, and sound quality will vary as well.
In regard to other means of connecting to your car stereo, I suggest you browse this very section of the forums (iPod-In-Car Solutions) for tons of threads on this subject.
Have fun with your new toy!

Use the cassette adaptor for a while, 'cause it is cheap and easy. You will probably want to move to a more permanent solution in the future.

Also, make sure that the auto-reverse setting on your tape player is playing Side 1, or it'll sound horrible.
