battery lifetime

So, anyone have any idea how many charge cycles a shuffle can take before the battery dies? I guess it'll work for a year or two, then you throw it away or get Apple to install a new battery for $99.

I rather buya new ipod shuffle than changing the battery... Anywa, Apple expect you to change a new one by the time the battery runs out...

Just a guess but in one year or two the 2nd gen shuffles will probably be out. There is no way anybody would pay to replace the battery on their older, scratched up shuffle (well except for the fools who buy above market prices for shuffle accessories on ebay).

After seeing how some people hacked into their iPs, and if the price of replacement battery drops, then I don't see any reason why one can't replce them. As long as one is gentle, non-destructive opening of iPs is quite possible.
