Hello! I just recently bought my shuffle and is already facing some problems. The first problem that I have is the fact that my USB seems to not be realizing the shuffle. I mean, when you finish installing the CD, then plug the shuffle into the USB, and finally you go to itunes and like you start transfering stuff from there right? Isn't that how it's suppose to be? But it's not going like that at all. when i plug it into the USB link, all it does is (i am assuming from the readings i did from the manuel) charges up. However, when I press the battery button it's green, supposedly that's the "fully charged" sign. so anyway, i went and tried it on another computer. This time it seems to be recognizing the ipod and gave me options for installing the device. I went through the whole installing the new device options the computer gave me. However, when i went back to itunes (hoping it'll finally work) it says " no ipod connected". I dont get it at all! What am i doing wrong? I dont have a Mac so i am using a PC. Does any one have windows XP professional and was able to get their shuffle working right? I have windows XP but not that window XP with SP4 that the label says. Is that a sufficient aspect for the shuffle to work? I am just really confuse right now and dont have a clue why my shuffle is not working. Please help me out. I would greatly appreciate it.

There's no SP4 for Windows XP, only up to SP2 right now so don't worry about that.
Are you running the latest version of iTunes? Have you run the latest iPod updater? When you connect it, does it show up as an icon in My Computer at all? Have you tried a different USB socket on your PC?

I think I had a similar problem when I installed mine. Run the iPod updater in the iPod folder in your start menu and use the restore option. Download the most recent version of the iPod updater from Apple.com if you haven't already also.

Apple officially doesn't recommend non USB 2.0, but I've had mine working happily on USB 1.1. It's obviously slower, but is functional.
