Hey,

First post!!! I have a question. I have a 4g 20gb ipod. I have about 500 songs on itunes and 500 on my ipod. I use auto sync. I am getting a laptop soon. Is their any way to make my laptop the main computer for my ipod. I want to transfer all of my itunes music onto the laptop, and then start using the laptop with my ipod and to download music. I would not use my current computer to manage my ipod at all. Is there any way that I can do this??? Thany you, I really appreciate it.

edit: Also, is it advisable to put all of the music i download from itunes onto audio cd's as a backup in case of a crash???

Just put the iPod on manual before you transfer PC's until you have iTunes populated again and the library matches the iPod.

edit?: what do you think?

1) Make data CD's (or DVD's) of your music files and transfer them from one computer to the other.
2) Or use a large USB thumb drive.
3) Or network the two computers together.
4) Or use your iPod, read this article:

You need to set it to "Manually manage songs and playlists" BEFORE you hook it up to the laptop...do this on your other computer in iTunes when the iPod is connected.
