Cannot read IPod in ITunes... Help!

Today I plugged in my IPod, as usual, to delete/add songs to it, but instead of giving me the "Do not disconnect" sign it is charging as if it was charging directly only and won't come up in ITunes at all...

Any ideas as of why this is happening and what I can do about it?

What OS are your using? Are you using USB or firewire? Are you using a dock? Did you reset the iPod and plug it in again?
