Hello. To anyone that uses an iPod on Windows XP, I want to ask you how easy or hard was it for you to install the iPod on your system with the disc that came with the Pod. Thanks for the input. Also what did you do after you placed the disc in?

Super easy, the cd has auto-launch with it, so when you pop in the cd everything just comes up and its real easy.

Good to hear, after it auto-launches, what does it do, install some software? When do you have to click restore?

There is some software (ipod software and itunes) to install. It leads you through the process. Computers for basic users are pretty much idiot proof nowadays. Although they seem to keep inventing better idiots....

Cool. Can I choose not to install iTunes since I already have the latest version?

I didn't use the software that came with my iPod. I use Mediafour's XPlay, which turns the iPod filesystem (Mac or PC) into a regular mounted hard drive with folders. Works great, and I'm not tied into using iTunes, which is almost virus-like in taking over almost all aspects of multimedia file management on the PC.

If you already have the lastest version of Itunes the installer will dectet it and will not instal that portion. Its about as easy to install as possible.

I dont use itunes for anything except transferring music to the ipod and removing it from the ipod. Thats it. If you turn auto sync off you can just drag albums over one at a time without having to worry about "Itunes" taking over your PC.
Im not a big fan of Itunes, but I wouldnt go so far as to say it takes over your media and is virus like. It only takes over the media you let it. It doesnt have to be your default player... remember that.

You know when you restore the Pod for Windows and you have to reboot, do you need to leave the iPod connected or take it out during the reboot?

Really easy, I just popped it in, and I already had iTunes, so it skipped it. It is almost impossible to screw it up.
