question: manually ejecting ipod

to eject ipod, when it is set to "enable disk use", is it enough to click the eject icon in itunes (left hand side, next to the playlists, etc.) or do i have to "safely remove hardware" through windows?

or are both good?

just want to be clear on this, because when i enable disk use, the ipod says that i will have to manually eject the ipod before removing it from it's dock, and i'm not sure what they mean.

Just hit the eject icon in iTunes.
