great! having problems syncing with MMJB now and this is the response i get from MMJB customer service:

As of Oct 31, 2004, Musicmatch Inc. is no longer supporting the iPod portable
device. As a result, we are no longer developing fixes or workarounds for the
iPod plug-in for Musicmatch Jukebox. Due to contractual obligations with Apple,
Musicmatch Inc. can no longer distribute the iPod plug-in for Musicmatch
Jukebox.

wow, looks like i'm going to be forced to use iTunes afterall, even though i hate the interface and am going to have to retag over 700 albums. #### you apple!

iTunes is actually the best for an iPod... because it was made by the creators.

Just drag the files in all at onces... really easy.

btw... mods don't edit the posts too quickly... if its edited right away its usually the thing that removes corse language.

If the tags are hard coded in the files there should be no reason to retag the files.

There are other options for syncing to your iPod, iTunes is not your only option.

You may try posting your problems to the MMJB forum here. Perhaps someone can help you there.

On a side note, please read our forums policy (http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7588):

No Profanity

No profanity in the iPodlounge forums, please. Not everyone wants to read foul or off-color language, and those who do not should not have to be subjected to it. This includes attempts to circumvent the word censor or any other form of word ma5k1ng. Also, please do not post links to pornography or other adults-only content.

This is why your post was changed. There are better ways to voice your issues other than profanity.

tried it once, all my files were out of order and had wrong titles. most of my albums were tagged by me one by one (lets say i don't listen to a lot of "pop" so most of my music wasn't tagged automatically).

but looks like i'll be dragged into iLife kicking and screaming eventually.

Well it's a companies choice to support what they will support.

If no one can help you with the music match issues in the forum you could try other programs other than iTunes if you needed to such as ephpod, anapod, or others.

If you have such a strong dislike for Apple, then why in the hell did you purchase a piece of Apple hardware? That's pure stupidity. Was a gun held to your head?

There are hundreds of other options besides Apple's iPod.

I hate Fords. I think I'll go buy one tomorrow.

Just use some other app with the iPod. There are others like:
RealPlayer
XPlay
EAC/Lame to import CD's &
YamiPod (http://www.yamipod.com) to transfer to the iPod.

Also check the download section on the toolbar for others.

do fords require you to use a particular kind of software to run them?

apple happens to make nice hardware (ipod), but i don't like their software (itunes).

lest we forget initial "windows ipods" were bundled with MMJB. ie. they used a windows based software package to lure windows based consumers. now they're just eroding previous compatibility with other software.

is this wrong? nah. is this shamelessly sneaking and annoying? absolutely.

No, but Fords require certain Ford parts to make them go. You can't slap a Volkswagen exhaust system on a Taurus and expect it to fit.

How is Apple responsible for MusicMatch's decision to stop supporting the iPod? Seems like you're directing your frustration at the wrong company.

If you hate apple that muci, just use realplayer; they are a good alternative, although the transfer times are very slow, even on firewire.

Though I agree that the original poster's anger is a little misdirected and out of proportion, I do have to mention that once Apple released iTunes for windows they terminated their deals with music match. They also made it so that once installed, iTunes uninstalled the iPod plugin that music match used so both programs could not exist on the same computer with the capability of transfering music to the iPod at the same time.

So, though it was music matches choice to not support the iPod further after iTunes release, apple did not make it easy for them either. But than again it is apple's right, that once they had their own program working on windows that their need for the contract with musicmatch had out lived it's purpose and were within their rights to end that partnership. They didn't do it because they are evil, they weren't plotting anything, they just did what made since from a business standpoint, offering their own music jukebox that was made for the iPod to the window's using iPod community.

That being said, the original poster's anger is still a little misdirected, because they think that they have to use iTunes and this is obviously completely false as there are other programs made that could be tried before iTunes. It just seems they would rather troll against apple instead of taking the suggestions made.
