Question about returning ipod to apple store

If I purchased my ipod at apple.com am I able to take it into my local apple store for repair or replacement. Has anyone done this before? thought it would save the hassle of them sending me box etc to send it back in & then waiting - I guess I am impatient.

If you bought it anywhere, you can take it the the apple store (To the genious bar). Make Sure you sign up ahead of time (You can do this at your local apple store site, which can be found at www.apple.com/retail)
