Hi Guys.

I have got my heart on the new ipod beauty and am planning to get my hands on it within the week. The only extra feature I hoped for was direct voice recording into the ipod.
I have heard that the latest ipods have a 6 sec recording facility. So now if Apple decides to include more extensive voice recording features with the newer versions of ipod, will it be possible to upgrade my ipod also with just a firmware upgrade...

Any ideas/buzz abt when they are going to add this feature...

Thanks ipod loungers!!

From what I have heard, there are new docks that are coming out for the new gen 3 ipods... There might be a recording device of some sort on these new docks... As far as a portable recorder, I have heard little about. Possibly with the new version 3.0 firmware, but don't count it... a new portable record would be connected to remote plug for sure...

I have voice recording with my NJB3 and remote, along with line in and optical in recording and two lines out, right on the unit:p

Is it a crime for me to be here, since I don't own an iPod. Many people think the iPod is the best just because it is an apple, but I just want to let people know of the alternitives. There are players with more storage, better sound quality, better battery life, and better features, like the new 60GB Nomad Jukebox ZEN comming out at the end of May. As for now, you probally won't see me here much more, or possibly ever.

It's not that you'r not allowed being here, its just that this is an iPod ONLY web site (and iPod related). ALL THINGS iPOD!. . . The majority (probably 99.95%) of all members here are iPod users. If you want to trash the iPod, then make your own site NOTHING iPOD!. . . Obviously the people here know the iPod, and the features that are BETTER than any other mp3 player in the market today.

Who cares about a 60gb mp3 player if it can't be used as an external hard drive? Its not like you have 60 gb's of music. Read the article about if any other mp3 player will come close to the iPod, then you can speak again!

dtnjb3 it is not a crime for you to be here, but having reviewed your post history (http://ipodlounge.com/forums/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=3971&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending) here, I find that all 12 of your posts to date are little more than hostile crusades for the product you prefer. While users of any product are welcome here, such behavior is not allowed at iPodlounge. Do it again, and you'll be banned.

Sorry, I was just in a bad mood for a while. I'll stop now. The iPod is certanly one of the best MP3 Jukeboxes around. It looks good, and it is soooooooo small. But, with all devices, there are trade off's. It costs $500 for the 30GB version, and it dosen't have the input/output features like the NJB3 does. It works great with a mac using iTunes. It gets 8 hours, which is a long time compared to my old NJB1, but not as good as a NJB3's 22. Of course, a NJB3 is much, much bigger and heavier than an iPod. Also, iPod's have many more accessories from 3ed party vendors that any other MP3 player, and they all look about as nice as the player.

I would like to have both an iPod and a NJB3, but right now I have a NJB3 (if the new iPod's had been out before I bought it, that may be different). I don't have (or rather don't feel compelled to spend) the money on an iPod now, but if I had more money, I would certanly own one. iPods are great for people who want something small and stylish that will fit well in a pocket. A NJB3 is great for someone who needs lots of battery life, and who needs more input/output options, for use recording, for example. A NJB ZEN is a good choice if you want something small that dosen't cost as much, or if you want something that has excelent sound quality, as the NJB3 does.

Apple is making progress towards the perfect MP3 player, as are creative and other manufacturs, but technology will never catch up to what people want.

Well, my work here is done. Sorry to be so rude. It may just be out of a little jelousy every time I see the guy with the new 30GB version at school, since it is soo small. I do use recording a lot, so I think I'll probally keep my MP3 player I have for now, but my next one may be an iPod, but I will have to see what's out when I want to buy it.

I'll leave now. Mabey I'll return later if I ever purchase an iPod, or mabey I'll get something eles

actually don?t leave. stay and keep yourself informed about the ipod (if you like). maybe we can convince you. ;)

you?re also welcome to post your opinion, just like everybody else here, just don?t flame-bait. i think we can agree, just like with os platforms, certain aspects are better and certain things are worse. each user has to find the device best suited for him. so don?t be mad or hurt, take it as a well meant chide, so that we can all get along better in future.

how about a fresh start?

welcome to ipodlounge! :)

This is all speculation, but supposedly in the future recording technology will be implemented into a new firmware update. Seeing as we can already record on the new iPods, there wouldn't be a need for a hardware update.
