I got an e-mail from them (spam) saying I could get 20 totally free songs, and since they didn't ask for credit card ifo or anything I thought allright I'll take thier songs. Well anyway, I suppose it would be great if you don't mind that damn near all the songs are performed by a group called "The Countdown"!!!!!! I mean what is that all about? You look someone up, and the song comes up with a little blurb underneath "performed by the countdown". Very very generic, Just my 2 cents.

I visited EZ-Tracks several months ago and got a few (very few) oldies from the site. Some of the tracks were "live" versions of old hits, but at least they were by the original artists. I also ended up with one or two "Countdown" versions.
What is EZ-Tracks supposed to be? Is it a front for promoting "Countdown"?

I got the same "20 free songs" spam mail and figured I'd give it a shot too. Not only are nearly all the songs by "The Countdown," but you end up getting MASSACRED with spam after signing up for this. I used a new e-mail address when I signed up, and had hundreds of spam e-mails by the next day. I now no longer can use that e-mail address . . . that's how bad the spam level is.

Whoa, I tried that site with a dummy address and a mailinator.com email:
First they demand a crapload of personal information, name, address, E-mail, age.
Second, you get tossed between page and page of ad screens requesting signups for this, that, and the other.
I decided to close the browser and check the amount of tracking cookies (I found over 15 from them alone) after they demanded an install of their special download software.
To boot, I checked the dummy mailinator.com account E-mail... their unsubscribe policy is printing out their ads and sending the printout via snail mail.
Ugh.

Whine whine whine. What was that last one? Something new? Oh, wait, just more whining. Listen guys, take this for what it’s worth: FREE music. You can complain all you want, but spam comes from lots of places, so if you’re going around signing up for every free offer you see you deserve to not only get spam, but also watch 12 straight hours of Golf with toothpicks propping up your eyes. Tracking cookies? Hello, welcome to the internet buddy. Enjoy your stay. Would you like a mint under your pillow perhaps? Every site gives you tracking cookies. This is how the online world works these days. If you don’t like it, read a book. Go fishing. Write a letter to Dear Abbey telling her how spam and tracking cookies ruined your childhood, and how they can’t tell you what to do because “They’re not your real mom!” Get over yourself! What are you, 12?
Now, in regard to the “Crapload of personal information” they request, have you EVER signed up for an online site before? Everyone asks you to register? Have you ever bothered to consider why it is that the internet is free? The same reason TV and radio are- Advertising. The info (along with the tracking cookies incidentally) are there so that they can give you ads relevant to who you are. If you’re a guy, maybe a home pregnancy test is not the ad to serve you (and if it is, your problems go WAY beyond this, and I highly recommend seeking professional help… real soon).
Now let’s move on to Countdown. Some of (ok, may of) their songs apparently are performed by this band. First of all, it’s not every single song, so dude, again, stop the whining. I can’t even HEAR you and I’m already getting a migraine. This site is obviously new and probably doesn’t have the rights to every song ever composed. That’s how they start. As they make money, they buy more rights and so on. Keep in mind, because this concept seems to escape that little chickpea you call a brain that this site is FREE! The quality won’t be on par with pay sites because it’s not there yet.
To the guy that got “Massacred” with spam: Could you please send me the body count of that massacre? Oh, just YOU got massacred? That’s not a massacre. One guy getting killed (which you didn’t, because you wrote in this blog) isn’t a massacre. I think we could probably place you in the “Friendly Fire” category. This is definitely not a massacre, or even a tragedy. It is however, highly entertaining, y’know, kind of in the same way Muppet Babies was kind of entertaining… when I was 6.
In conclusion, I’d like to thank everyone who made this possible… BM and KA. Without them, I would not be where I am today, which is to say, sitting back and laughing at your woeful ignorance of the wondrous tool that is the internet.
Be real guys.

Jonny B Righteous,
What exactly is your point (besides self-aggrandizing)?
Is it surprising that a free music site turns out to be lame? No, not entirely, but there are a handful of smallish sites that are decent. Is it surprising that users are asked to submit personal information? No, but again, there are many sites that require registration that don't ask for that much information. As for spam and tracking cookies, there are many, many sites that don't spam the **** out of users, and don't attempt to load them up with tracking cookies.
Just a thought... why not hop down off your high horse and check out things from where you belong, down here with the rest of us.

PunkxQueen,
I’m sorry to break the news that my High horse has died of repertory failure. High (short for Highness) was a good horse, and we had some good times. I remember when I was but a wee lad roaming the open plains of Idaho, High was my only friend. You see, I had a rare medical condition that only allowed me to communicate with four legged animals. My parents bought me High when I was 9, for the one year anniversary of being able to speak my first words of English after years of therapy. High and I rode day and night. One cold night, this past January, I awoke form a nightmare that brought me back to those awful years of excommunication form my peers. High heard me scream as I woke up, and asked me to go for a ride (yes, I could still understand his sometimes cryptic language). I said no, but he insisted. The wind was bitter, and the rain and hail pelted us like bullets on a tank, yet we persevered. I came home with not even a scratch. My High Horse however, was not quite so fortunate. He developed a repertory infection that quickly spread to one of his hooves. That leg was later amputated. Since my illness only allowed me to communicate with four legged animals, I could no longer talk to High. This depressed both of us to no end. High lost the will to live, and about a month ago, he passed on the Horse Heaven. High was deeply spiritual, and I am confident that he is happy now, looking upon us with horseful glee.
I bid you all the best, and may my High Horse be a blessing to us all, as I have indeed come down from him. He is far above us all now.
