I am having an issue with my I POD, which is out of warranty. I just picked up a pair of Shure E2c ear buds (these things are amazing btw) for my 3rd gen I POD (about 1 ½ years old now) and it when there is pressure on the headphone input connector (where the phones enter the headphone jack) I hear some static. It is almost as if there is not a solid connection, or the connection in the headphone jack is dirty. Is there any safe way to clean the headphone jack? Any other suggestions? Thanks -Bryan

you're hearing static because the ipod's casing is made of metal and conducts the sound into your earphones or something like that. I made a post about this a couple weeks ago on this forum. Run a search for e2c and static. The guys that responded said you can put tape or something on the connector. I just sent my e2c's back to shure and the new ones I got didnt have the static problem.

Good luck
