I was wondering what the deal was with the cord? I plan on getting these because of the cost and how good they are rated....Is the cord like the stock headphones? Same length to the one cable and same length overall? or is it weird? thanks.

No, the cords on the EX71's aren't like the stock earbuds. One side is longer than the other, so you're meant to wear them in a way so that the longer cord goes behind your neck. You may find this annoying at first, but you get used to it.

The overall length of the EX71's is quite strange as well. Without the extension cord they're way too short, with the extension cord they're too long, and with the remote they're still slightly too long. If you think this may irritate you then you may want to get the Sony EX51's, which have the same specs but a 'normal' length cord.

hmm, so the 51s still have one side longer than the other....

are there any good inexpensive ones that are modeled like the ipods cords?

I really like the EX51s. The cord is the right length too. If you wear the cord on the back of your head like I do, you will not find the different length thing annoying.

The 51s are cheaper than the 71s, and also are black, which is nice if you don't want to do the "I have an ipod" thing with the white cords.
