after searching the forums i didn't find anything, so-

I'm looking to get one of the sony noise cancelling headphones, and these seem to be the best ones (in-ear only, and affordable as im only 15) the MDR-EX70LP have a good review here on ipod lounge but the MDR-NC11 were the only ones i could find on the 2 sites i looked at- sony.com and minidisco.com....so is there much difference between these 2? Is one better at noise cancelling, or maybe one has a better sound quality or is more comfortable?

cheers

the NC11 are active noise cancelling, meaning they come with that extra remote looking thing that uses batteries. The ex70's are out of production I think, try looking at the ex51's and ex 71's or even the 81's. There are millions of threads on this board comparing them to each other and other earphones.

I havent had any experice with the NC11's, but from what I hear active noise cancelling gives you extra sounds and such. I own a pair of the 71's, and they are excellent considering the price.

You would not be able to get the EX-70's. You can get the EX-71's for $30-something in white or black. They will cancel as much noise as sticking an earplug into your ear. When you put them in everything will sound a bit muffled. Once you start playing music and a normal level they should block out most other noise. I like to listen at fairly high volumes, and I can walk out on the sidewalk of a busy street and not hear anything but music (no cars, people, buses, etc)

The NC's use active noise cancelling which involves a battery. They sense outside noise, and emit an opposite noise into your ear which will cancel the outside noise so you do not hear it.

if u only want to hear music and nothing else, then get the NC. i used to own a pair till it broke. i would say it was pretty good. i tried using the stock buds but its very annoying since it keeps on coming off my ear even with a little tug in the cord. Now, im have Bang & Olufsen and pretty happy with it.

I heard bad things about the MDR-NC11. You should get Sony MDR-NC11A instead.

Can't compare them to the other buds 'cause I'm just thinking of getting a pair of the 71s. But for noise cancelling, and that purpose alone, the NC-11s are pretty good. I've used them on 16-hour plane flights and I'm always surprised at the new details I pick up in the music.

The EX70 was replaced by the EX71. So you might have some problems getting one.

Not sure if you can get a EX71LP in your country. Most countries have the EX71SL.

LP=Single 1.2m cord.
SL=0.5m cord plus a 1m extension.
SP=Short cord, most likely 0.5m

Both NC11 & NC11A are not good! I would get the Shure E3 instead!!!!.

You seem to be getting NOISE-CANCELLING and SOUND-ISOLATING headphones confused. The Sony NC series are noise cancelling, the EX series (and Shure E series) are sound isolating.
