Uh let's see... there's AIWA, and also, AIWA! ;)

Seriously, you may want to consider one with a rear input. That way you can leave the cable plugged in, and route it behind your dash.
http://www.crutchfield.com/ should have a list of decks with rear inputs, or ones that can add inexpensive adapters to create an input (Blaupunkt).

Bump this up, I too am looking for a headunit with RCA inputs but it doesn't matter if it is in the front or back. I read somewhere that RCA input is better than the AUX input that most headunits have. I looked on crutchfield and only found headunits with AUX inputs and none for RCA Inputs. I could also careless about the RCA Outputs since I won't be using an amp. Anyone know of any units with RCA Inputs ?

Front would look tacky IMO. Go with a decent deck like an Alpine or maybe a Sony.

I agree, I would rather have rear ones, but I can find any unit with rca inputs so i will take what i can get :)

I'm not sure if AUX=RCA, but I can't see what else it would be?

My Blaupunkt uses an adapter that plugs into one of the CD changer ports. The adapter has a set of RCA plugs on the other end. It doesn't matter if your deck has a 1/8" jack or a set of RCA plugs. The sound quality will be the same.

well, depending on the quality of connectors you might be better off with the 1/8 jack since you don't have to use an adapter from 1/8 to RCA.

i've never heard of a deck with an 1/8 jack..sounds good, anybody know a deck with this?

There's a decent amount of headunits with a 1/8" input on the front. I can't imagine why that wouldn't be sufficient. Is using RCA cables going to give you any noticable improvement in quality?

Analog is analog. As long as you use a decent quality cable that doesn't have any kinks or possible shorts in it, you will be fine. The only better way to connect a DAP to a car stereo is via an optical cable. The iPod has no optical output, and I don't think any decks have any optical inputs.

no head units have front RCA inputs... only 1/8" mini plug inputs
