Hey everyone,

I've had my Silver iPod Mini for about 6 months or so now and I've been using the stock earbuds. They sound pretty good but I know there are much better headphones out there and I'd like to get as much sound quality as I can out of the mini.

I don't really like earbuds all that much because they tend to hurt my ears after a while. I'm really looking for some over ear headphones that have some ability to cancel out surrounding noise. With the stock ear buds, you have to crank the volume up any time there's more than a whisper around you.

As far as price goes...I'm willing to spend a decent amount...Not sure exactly how much...but I'll consider all recommendations.

As for the type of music I listen to...I listen to a fairly wide variety of music but mostly Train, Live, U2...etc..etc. That type of music.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I also live in Canada. Im not sure which headphones are available where :)

If you're looking for earbuds I would look at:

Sony EX71 (black): $35
Sony EX71(white): $50

Shure E2c (clear): $70

Shure E3c (white): $120
Etymotic ER6i (white):$120

I don't think that you'd want to go higher, but there's also the Etymotic ER4's and the Shure E5c's which cost quite a bit more.

Those prices are all USD, and pretty much the best deal prices you can find. You might have to search a bit on the internet to get those prices, and I'm not sure about exchange rates/shipping to Cannada.

Also, check out www.head-fi.org for knowledgeable(?) headphone advice.

If you want active noise-cancelling headphones, go with the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 ($300). I have them and they are very nice and very comfortable. If that is a bit pricey, you can try the Sennheiser PXC250 ($170) or PXC300 ($200). You can find those Sennheisers for cheaper if you look around. The Bose will always be $300, wherever you go.

I would advise you not to get noise-cancelling headphones from any other companies, IMHO. They can be of very low build and sound quality. The PXC250 are the cheapest you'd want to go.

*cough* "I'm really looking for some over ear headphones" *cough* :)

The thoughwww.head-fi.org (http://www.head-fi.org) advise was spot on though.

And for what it's worth, I DJ and I swear by Sennheisers, although listening to your iPOds a tad different
