Have these ports ever changed? I want to buy an AUX POD (http://www.installer.com/ipod/) to connect my iPod to my car, but I don't want to sped $199.00 on something that won't fit with my iPod. Have these bottom ports ever changed?
I received my 20 gig iPod as a Christmas gift the Christmas before last. It was new at the time. Having said this I don't know the exact generation of my ipod.
Also, is this the best product for this purpose? Any bad experiences with this thing?
Thanks. :)

Is this question too vague? Or are there too many secondary questions? lol

If you have auxillary inputs in the back of your CD deck then you don't need that product, the Belkin car charger will do. It is also featured on that website but Best Buy sells it for $39.99 which is $10 less than that website.
The dock connectors have not changed for 2 generations. The 3G (3rd generation) iPod was the first with the dock connector (the bottom port), then the mini, the 4G, and now the iPod photo. I doubt Apple will change that design then that means that hundreds of iPod accessories would not be used. Getting that will suite you fine, as long as it can work with your car.
Just a side not, sometimes it takes longer than 3 hours to answer a question. Patience is a virtue ;)
Oh yeah, welcome to the lounge!

Thank you for your very kind welcome. At the point that I added my follow up I had just finished my third cup of coffee, so I apologize for my chemically induced impatience. :)
But this brings up a second (or third or fourth) question. If this "Belkin Auto Kit for Apple® iPod™ with Dock Connector" (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1055388004958&skuId=5561135&type=product) is what you are talking about, does it have a secondary cable that doesn't include the "FM Transmitter" it describes? I am trying to get away from the FT Transmitter it talks about because I travel often and am a bit sick of searching for dead radio stations as I drive (I currently use the iTrip).
Also, thanks for pointing to what could possibly be a much cheaper alternative to the AUX POD. :D

If the pic of the ipod is correct, I believe that you have a 2nd generation iPod. If this is true, then you won't be able to use any of the dock connector products that are made for the more current ipods.
PM me if you have any more questions.

andrew.burd, I think you have a 3G iPod as you said it has the port on the bottom of it and it was new last year (for Christmas). The Belkin adapter has a 3.5mm audio output so all you need is a cord that goes from that to red and white auxillary, they are around $10 for a long one and $5 for a short one. Belkin also makes a FM transmitter and cassette adapter, that is why it is mentioned as one of the uses. I think they are trying to get you to buy the FM transmitter as well. If you ahve the auxillary input on your CD deck then the Belkin unit will work. This week Best Buy is also adding a $10 mail in rebate for the Auto Kit. Sik also makes a line-out connection for the iPod, you can check it out at www.sik.com It is pretty good, I have both the Belkin and the Sik adapter. Currently the sik adapter is out of stock and I am not sure when they are getting more. For most people the Belkin unit is good enough.
I know how it is with a drug induced hyper active order (mainly Mountain Dew and Monster Energy Drink), especially exam weeks, so don't feal bad.
I hope all that helps.
