I just purchased a set of Sony EX71SL earbuds thinking that it would produce more low-end bass. Believe it or not, my original Apple earbuds sound far superior - I'm getting absolutely no bass out of the Sony. Does anyone have a similiar experience, or do I just have a bad set of Sony earbuds? Thanks!

Are you sure you are getting a good in-ear seal because if anything my EX 71's produce too much base.

Yeh, you need to wedge em' right in there ;) .

Sounds like you're not getting a good "acoustic seal".

Thanks guys! That was the problem - not getting them far enough in the ear. Once I "fitted" the correct earbud (the one I had chosen was too small though a little more comfortable) and placed it snugly in the ear it made all the difference. Pretty remarkable sound to my "average" ears! Thanks again for the help. Have a great weekend.

If you correctly break them in, the sony's are great. This basically means that you would need to listen to louder than usual music for a day or so, so keep your iPod on, plug these in and play the iPod..or any other device...but they do need to be broken in before you get the full experience, and before you use htem regularly.

I've never heard of anything like this before, but I trust your suggestion. I've got the EX71's plugged in, have the volume on my iPod turned up about 3/4ths and have begun playing my list. We'll let it run, plugged in to AC, for 24 hours or so?? Whatever..... Again, Thanks.

Check out the 'Headphone Burn-In FAQ' at the top of the list of posts. I burned in mine for about 100 hours, and I think it made the highs a let less harsh.
