Every spring, hundreds of bands from all over the world flock to the Heart Of Texas for the South By Southwest Music Festival. This year, the website for the festival features at least one FREE and LEGAL MP3 of the bands that are playing. I am providing a link to the artist pages in alphabetical order. There are 3 other pages in addition to this one, and they are linked at the top of the SXSW page.
These aren't just no-name bands either. I didn't read the full list, but I did notice everything from Billy Idol to Cowboy Mouth to Harvey Danger.
Ah well, Enjoy!

Great find, mtv! I've been to 3 sxsw festivals and might be heading down there again this year with a band from Dallas called Sorta.

Are you in sorta? that's awesome if you are. I'm from fort worth, but I am in Austin at least once a week. I'll be heading down for the Rocket Summer's show at SXSW.
Isn't sorta on the new Buzz-Oven volume?
I used to be the HEB leader.

I'm just a buddy, not in the band. Haven't had a chance to catch Rocket Summer yet. I just looked up Buzz-Oven and found the web site. Looks like a cool project. Don't have any idea if Sorta has had anything on any of their CDs.

I could have sworn they were on the new volume. With record hop and someone else. Can't remember though.

A well known and respected UK broadcaster, Bob Harris, is a regular visitor to SXSW and his Saturday night show (10pm to 1am) on 19th is coming live from Austin.
Apparently Robert Plant will be doing the Keynote speech on the Thursday about 11am to kickoff the festival...

You can listen to the streaming version of his show or use the Listen Again service for the show for the following week - BBC Radio 2 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio2.shtml)

Nice find indeed.. there had been word of this going around the net for a while. A great way to introduce myself to a lot of bands I had never heard of. Thanks to SXSW I now have a playlist of 660 songs, 1.7 days. And I didn't even go through to see if I had everything.... now all I need is the 6Gb mini I'm looking to buy.
Now if only I could go to the festival. :D

Seems there's always been a good showing of British bands at the SXSW festivals I've been to. I remember seeing Elastica back in.. well a while back. Lots of beer flowing back then. Now I go hunting for something new and not so much the beers. The Yeah Yeah Yeah's were my last "WOW!" band down there. Can't wait!

Ahhhh... Cowboy Mouth. Good to have some good ol' Southern Rock. Love em' (especially since there from New Orleans).
