As the title implies: how much would you pay for a pair of opened (most likely used) Etymotic ER-6i's?
I need to get an idea of what they're worth so I don't get ripped off if I buy them "open boxed".
Thanks.

Well how much do they want for an open box? On ebay there going for $114 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=73841&item=5752491734&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW). (Brand New) How long have they been used for as well?

This person says they've had the Ety Er-6i's for only a few days but "never used them" yet the box is open. I find it highly unlikely that someone would open a box of earphones and not even place them in their ears at least once, so I seriously think they're used.
The seller wants $90 for them, but, again, they're opened and used. I feel "funny" paying close to retail ($114) for a used pair of earphones...
What do you guys/girls think? Is that a good deal for a used pair of Ety ER-6i's?
BTW: I just ordered a pair of Shure E2c's but I haven't recieved them yet. I want two pair of earphones for different situations. I was going to buy a pair of Sony EX71's for certain situations and use the Shure's as my main earphones, but then this person shows up with a used pair of Ety's for $90... so I'm trying to figure out if $90 for used Ety's is a deal or if I should just buy the cheaper and BRAND NEW Sony EX71's...
Any help/advice is welcome. Thank you. :)

It's not enough of a discount that I would take the risk of buying used, particularly with the yuck factor that it may have been in someone else's ear.

Even if this person has opened them and used them I think it isn't a bad deal. You could always just clean the earphones when you recieve them.

Yeah, the "yuck factor" is pretty high on in-ear/canal phones. And it's not like it's a friend's earphones. We're talking a complete stranger here... I don't want what he's had in his ears...
I still have the Shure E2c's coming on Monday... are the Ety ER-6i's better than the Shure E2c's?
Thanks. :)

I won't buy the used one! There is no way to know it is a defective item.
Well assuming they work fine then I dont think there is an issue. The tips are easilt washable and you could disinfect them if you were really bothered, so the 'yuck' factor would be minimal. Plus you can buy replacement earpieces for them anyway.....

Actually, I have to go pick them up, so I'm going to try them out before even handing over my money. If it looks used/abused , I'm not going to shell out my money for it.
I got him to drop the price a teeny bit, but I still haven't gotten to see them in person so I don't know if it's worth it.
My Shure's are slated to arrive tomorrow anyway, so we shall see...
