I own a 10GB Mac Formatted iPod. I have been operating it with EphPod and MacOpener successfully for over 18 months. This weekend based on positive reports I had read on-line I decided to convert it to Windows.

I downloaded the Updater as suggested and ran the update. All seemed well. I unplugged from the system and plugged the iPod into a power supply to flash shock it. It appeared to work as the progress bar moved across on power-up.

I then un-installed MacOpener on my W2000 ThinkPad and plugged the iPod back into my Firewire card. Nothing... a plain apple black logo.

I tried using the latest updaters for an attempted restore but the restore button is grayed out and I get a "no iPod found" message. I tried the WinniePod updater and that also says "no iPod found." The Firewire card is working just fine, I checked it.

HELP!!! Any suggestions. Do I go backwards and try top restore it as a Mac iPod? Is there a utility that will format the drive? HELP!

All suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

I am interested to see if you were finally successful. I am planning on doing the exact same thing as you - going from ephpod to windows. You probably know this but the updater you download depends on your generation of ipod. I need to use 1.3 because I have an older Ipod.

From the Apple site:

Important Note
iPod Software Update 1.3 is only compatible with touch-wheel and scroll-wheel iPods without a dock connector. The recently introduced iPods (April 28, 2003) do not need this update.
