View Full Version : Best Connection for AUX Connector?

I have a 2005 Civic EX Special Edition. On the 6 disc changer deck, there is an AUX connection which is basically a headphone-type connection. I'm just curious, is there a preference of whether to use a male-to-male cable going from the headphone port of my iPod to the deck or should I look for a dock connector with a male plug on the end?
I'm really interested in the best sound quality and honestly, I'm not too sure of whether there is a better sound difference using the headphone port or the dock connector.
Thank you for any help/information!

I don't know for sure, but I have heard that the dock connector offers much better sound quality. I am also in the same dilemma. I don't really know which one to get since i might be adding a car charger which would utilize the dock connector. But there is a product out (can't remember what it is or where i saw it) that plugs in to the dock connector to charge the ipod and also has an output for an aux connection. The output is a female headphone jack.

Thanks, Brian.
I saw that while browsing through the forum earlier, that's why I asked. I did go to BestBuy earlier today and bought a stereo cable kit which had the other cable (male-to-male) just to try it out. I'll get to test it out later this evening and I'll let you know.
I did notice that imp cable is out of stock until March, but it does look worthwhile - it still requires a male-to-male connector though :)
Thanks again...good luck.

The IMP is out of stock but they are offering the three pieces that make up the IMP for the same price as the IMP. I purchased it and its working great. Im going to be selling it though since i just ordered the ARKON Cig Charger Cradle..
