Hi Guys,

I was just posting to say I have completed my ipod incar setup.

I have modified a firewire cable so that it caters for lineout and power functions, and have basically added power to the ipod unmodified (appart from a click-on/click-off switch which interrupts the power supply, so I can turn it on/off when i wish)

If anyone wants diagrams or photos, please ask.

I have installed the lot in my car without taking photos along the way, but I can show whats visible.

From what I have seen from some peoples ipod installs like this, they install a power supply aswell so that the power in the car is "reduced" - well since the ipod is a 12v 1amp electrical item, all I have done is wired the power up through a 1amp fuse.

Yes. Please post the wiring diagrams. Always interested in see how other people do things.

I bought a Belkin charger with line out and "cut" the head off and hardwired it to my stereo's line in and an ignition only power circuit in my truck. when I turn the truck off the iPOD pauses automatically.

Mine doesnt pause - I guess the ACC circuitry in the belkin adapter caters for this.

I dont need mine to pause anyway as I have the ipod visible infront of me while driving anyway, so will pause it when i need to

The belkin adapter has nothing to do with it. Its the iPOD that auto pauses when it stops seeing power (at least thats what I've always been told). If I have my truck running and release the dock connector from the bottom it auto pauses still.

Is your power hooked directly to the battery? Mine is hooked to the ignition so it shuts off, like the radio, when I turn the truck off.

I have mine powered thro the circuitry of my stereo, which I have setup so that its "always on" whether the ignition is on or off.

So, Its powered all the time.

As for the ipod pausing when it loses power, not the case. When I turn the power off to my ipod, it continues playing.

I havent checked when I take the dock adapter off whether it pauses, but i'll give it a whirl.

I'll have diagrams up asap!
