Updater - Cannot Open Ipod !!!

Thinking its about time i tried to update to 2.0.1 i ran the Ipod Updater Program. Unfortunately, after a few seconds i get a little box pop up saying "Cannot Open Ipod"

Whats up with this thing?

The Ipod is connected as the Ipod Manager says so but the updater aint seeing it!!

I have a similar problem. My original iPod (3G 15Gb) stopped working (hard disk was making terrible noises) and was sent to Apple. They kindly sent me a replacement (another 15Gb) but it was formatted for Mac. The attached instructions told me how to reformat for PC but when I put the iPod into the dock, launch iPod manager and and click on Launch 2.0 Update, an error message says "UPDATER - Cannot open iPod.

My PC is a 1.4 Athlon, running Windows ME with a SIIG 1394 firewire card and it all worked fine with the original iPod (which was for Windows.)

The ipod seems to be recognised as I get the "do not disconnect message." I've searched the forums and only found 1 other message with this problem (if I was using search correctly) and there was no reply. I'm a bit stuck now so can anyone please help me? First post so apologies if I've made any mistakes or left anything out.

Have just read another post saying ME doesnt work with the iPod but looking at my iPod box, it does say Windows ME, 2000 or XP so I hope it's not that.

After speaking to Apple tech support (who were very helpful) my problem was fixed by leaving my iPod in the dock while rebooting my pc. Hurrah.
