Oh man, huge problem guys, huge problems, and I have to get it fixed ASAP because I am leaving on vacation.

Well, I just put my entire library onto my IPod, and well some of the "Artists" names appear like 2, 3, and even 4 times. But here is the thing, I am a super neat freak and everything is spelled the same...IT ISN'T LIKE THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLE BELOW:

Jimi Hendrix
Jimmy Hendrix
Jim Hendrixe

...IT SHOWS UP LIKE THIS:

Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix

Also, in my library the artist is only listed at once, and I plugged my IPod in to see if it showed the artists or songs twice, and well it only listed the songs, and they all seemed to show up once.

SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP! WHAT SHOULD I DO?

^ That is the super main problem, but I also had two other little questions.

1.) Do you guys keep your brightlights on all the time while listening to your IPod, because it seems stupid to shut them since you can seem them better and the IPod itself looks better with it on.

2.) On my Artist Page and when I click the artists names to see the albums...they show up like this "This is an example right here..."

^ I assumed that they would scroll across the screen, but the only thing that does that is the song titles when they are being played. Anyone know how to fix that?

THANKS SO SO SO SO SO MUCH GUYS!

Check all of your songs in your library to see that the mp3 tags do not have spaces after the artists name. So in Windows, I'd select all of his songs, click properties, and summary and then delete any spaces after 'Jimi Hendrix' in the artist field.

Thanks. I will do. Then what should I do...like how can I:

1.) Remove all the songs from him from my IPod? Because it would take forever to find every song and remove it.

Is there a way I can just remove all songs by Hendrix, and then just put all of his songs on it again?

***I would first try re-syncing. Are all of your artists repeated like that or just a handful? Mine did the same thing so my solution was to manually delete for example, all Jimi Hendrix off the iPod. Then I manually dragged Jimi back to the ipod. Voila! That worked for me. I had about ten artists with this problem so it took me about 15mins to fix.

***If you leave your backlight on all the time your battery will drain much more quickly. I have mine turned to OFF. If I need the backlight, I just hold the menu button 'till it comes on and then it will stay on until I'm finished maneuvering.

***I don't think there's any way to get the artists to scroll. I agree that's kind of a drag but not really that bigga deal.

Hope this helps.

I also had the problem where some of my MP3s had one or more spaces after the artist's name and some didn't, and the computer (and iPod) saw them as separate entries. Double-check that they're really identical; that solved the problem for me.

xPlay. Just sort by artist

NiTRO has your problem nailed. I'm guessing that you use MMJB to upload to the iPod? This is a known issue with that program.

MMJB puts trailing spaces on your tags, it shows them all as the same Artist, the iPod doesn't. Nice one on MMJB's part.

Check for trailing spaces on the Artist and or Album names.

I never have my backlight on. I don't see the use as I use it during the day almost exclusively and I don't want the huge battery drain.

Can't fix your other problem, it's the way the iPod works (lack of scrolling).

Scotch:

Please don't cross-post. As you've seen, you get a lot of results here.

I've merged the two threads into this one....
