Play line out without charging for car chargers?

I am going to get either a Monster or Belkin car charger. I'm just wondering if I can use the line out without having to have the charger plugged in to the cigarette lighter, or does the charger have to be powered in order for any sound to come out of the line out?

You should be able to use it the way you want. I know that the Sik imp will work just fine as a line out without the charging cable attached, so I don't see why the Belkin or Monster chargers wouldn't work the same.

Well since the Belkin has an amplifier inside I doubt it will work unless powered.

If the Belkin has an amp inside, you probably should stay away from that as a true "line out" option.
