Does anyone know of a source for replacement caps for the the Apple in-ear headphones?
I use larges and one of them fell off. I just got off the phone with Apple tech support. The ever-so-helpful guy kept repeating that either I'd have to buy a new set or "check my warranty to see if it's covered." $40 to replace a $0.01 piece of rubber is ridiculous but not surprising coming from Apple. (ipodsdirtysecret?)
Fine. I'll buy a new pair (I could use a second pair anyways), swipe one of the large caps, then return it the next day, claiming that it fell off, and scream "Warranty." I'd rather not go through this hassle, though and just buy one.

well you get the normal 1 year warrenty on the in-ear headphones, so id try and get a replacemnt set. do it on their website though, easier then talking to a person on the phone

I have your solution. I was trying the large in-ear caps but they were too big for me. In the meantime my wife threw away the others. Would you like to trade your mediums for my larges? If so, email me at mwozmak@verizon.net This may solve the problem for both of us

I've had the same problem with every soft silicone earbud I've ever tried. I used to just buy a new set of Sonys every time I lost all the caps, but I found out that Shure actually sells replacement caps through Amazon at what seems to be like a very reasonble price: $13 for 5 pairs.

I have the E2c model... more expensive, but it comes with a carrying case I can actually USE (unlike the plastic ones that come with Apple's and Sony's buds), and consequently, after five months, I still haven't lost a silicone cap. That's a first for me. Furthermore, I have replacements at my fingertips.
I personally like the Sony buds' sound quality SLIGHTLY better than the Apples, but unfortunately, I've never used either with my iPod, and I've never used my Shures with my old iRiver (which sounded excellent, and is unfortunately long gone). Either my iPod sounds a bit worse than my iRiver did, or my Shures sound a bit worse than my Sonys did, I'm really not sure. But I CAN say that they definitely sound good, they're built well, and I'm happy to pay about $100 for them, since they're apparently not going to need to be replaced every three to four months.
